As one of the original X-Men, Bobby has appeared in numerous alternate realities, some better known than others. You can find out more about these alternate versions below.

1602 (Earth-311)

1602 Appearances: 1602 # 1 - 8
Profile: Roberto Trefusis is the youngest member of Carlos Javier's group of witchbreeds. Despite his age, Robby is proficient in the use of his powers and is the nephew of Sir Francis Drake.



Age of Apocalypse (Earth-295)

Age of Apocalypse Appearances: The Amazing X-Men # 1 - 4, The Astonishing X-Men # 1 & 4, Blink # 4, X-Men: Alpha, X-Men: Chronicles # 1 - 2, X-Men: Omega, Exiles # 1, X-Men: Age of Apocalypse
Profile: One of Magneto's first recruits to his X-Men, Bobby Drake quickly knuckled down to master his powers. Able to completely control his outer appearance, he could also reconstitute himself if broken or shattered. A master of dark humour, Bobby came across as cold and uncaring. He is presumed dead.


Amalgam (Earth-9602)

Amalgam Appearances: JLX Unleashed # 1
Profile: A member of JLX, Tora Drake aka Iceberg was held prisoner during the Armageddon Agenda. She later joined the new incarnation of JLX and saw the battle with Fin Fang Flame as a chance to prove her worth to the team. When she is knocked unconscious during the battle, Runaway absorbs her powers.



Avataars: Covenant of the Shield

Profile: Icemaker is an Avataar, a super-powered subject of the kingdom of Avalon on Eurth. An X'changling, he was born with his powers and follows the philosophy of the Seer, who promotes understanding and harmony between X'changlings and humans. As part of a team fighting against Simon Magnus, he encounters Captain St'vaan and his Champions of the Realm.


Avengers (Earth-689)

Avengers Appearances: Avengers Annual (1st Series) # 2
Profile: Believing that super-powered individuals and groups have caused many of the problems facing the world, the Avengers set out to capture superheroes and supervillains alike. Iceman is part of the X-Men, a group the Avengers had been unaware of at the beginning of their task.

Profile: Iceman, seemingly as a member of X-Factor, takes part in the fight against Galactus and the Silver Surfer. He is not shown to survive.




Days of Future Past (Earth-811)

Profile: Iceman, along with scores of other mutants and heroes, was killed by the Sentinels.




Earth X (Earth-9997)

Profile: When the X-Man Bobby Drake found his powers had further mutated, he was forced to move to a colder climate or face melting. Relocating to the arctic, he built a city made of ice for himself and the native Inuit. During this period of his life he became something of an altruist, using his powers to bring water to drought affected regions. He believed he had his training as an X-Man to thank for both his control over his powers and his desire to help others. When the Earth's climate changed making New York habitable to him once more, he returned to join the fight against Mephisto.

Excalibur (Earth-597)

Excalibur Appearances: Excalibur: Weird War III (Marvel Graphic Novel # 66)
Profile: Originally a member of the X-Men, Iceman has been captured by Herr Xavier and now forms part of the 'X-Men Experiment'. With both Angel and Beast dead, and Cyclops and Jean Grey incapacitated, Iceman has been kept alive and unharmed in order to see how far he can be pushed. Under the mental control of Xavier, he performs various experiments on Polaris, his girlfriend.


Exiles (Earth-12)

Exiles Appearances: Exiles # 1 & 14
Profile: In a world where mutants are not feared and hated, but elevated to the level of celebrity, Iceman is a member of Professor Xavier's X-Men and teammate to the Mimic who would later become a member of the Exiles.

Profile: Icegirl is a member of The Avengers.




Exiles (Earth-94831)

Exiles Appearances: Exiles # 38 - 40
Profile: Iceman is a member of the Brotherhood and resides on Asteroid M with his girlfriend, Rogue. Huge in stature, he accompanies Magneto back to Earth to deal with the reality-hopping Weapon X. When Magneto orders him to take Hyperion down, he balks, saying that he'd rather live on an Earth where the mutants ran things than an asteroid floating in space. He was killed by Hyperion and Firestar.


Exiles - Nocturne's Reality (Earth-2182)

Exiles - Nocturne's Reality Appearances: Exiles # 42
Profile: Bobby is a student at the Xavier Institute in Nocturne's reality. Although not yet a member of the X-Men (he appears to be in his early to mid teens) he helps to defend the school against Scott Summers' renegade Exiles group. Bobby is directly responsible for taking out that group's version of Rogue.



Exiles (Earth-2189)

Exiles Appearances: Exiles # 47
Profile: After Magneto led an attack on a US Airforce base, mutants, including Iceman and the X-Men, were arrested and placed in prisons.




House of M (Earth-58163)

House of M Appearances: Black Panther (4th Series) # 7, Civil War: House of M # 2, 4 - 5, Secrets of the House of M # 1
Profile: Iceman participated in the liberation of Genosha and when Xavier was murdered by the Vice President, he also took part in the retaliatory attack on the White House. At some point during the Mutant-Human War, Bobby was turned over to the authorities by his father, who believed it would keep his son safe. Bobby was placed in a Mutant Camp and, feeling that his father had betrayed him, when eventually freed he joined Apocalypse's Horsemen. His powers were amped up and he began to supervise enslaved humans, later taking part in Apocalypse's invasion of Wakanda. (Please note that the events of House of M and House of M: Civil War don't mesh particularly well when it comes to Bobby.)

Profile: A member of the X-Men, Iceman was buried in the 'Costumed Adventurers Memorial Park'. It is unclear whether or not he was killed during the war which led to the end of humankind.

Profile: Iceman fought Juggernaut several times before Cain Marko had a change of heart which ultimately led to him joining the X-Men.




Marvel Apes (Earth-8101)

Profile: Icemonk is a member of the X-Apes, a group of outcasts that the Ape-Vengers believe need to be rehabilitated. Far from being dangerous to society, however, the outcasts were fighting to keep the world safe from a group of vampires who were also planning to invade the mainstream Marvel dimension.


Marvel Universe: The End (Earth-4321)

Marvel Universe: The End Appearances: Marvel Universe: The End # 1 & 5
Profile: Part of Archangel's team of X-Men, Iceman was recalled to the Xavier Institute where Professor Xavier and Jean Grey were attempting to make contact with an alien life-form. In return, the life-form (calling itself Pharaoh Akhenaten) destroyed the Institute and all of the X-Men within. Later, Iceman was amongst those recalled by the gods to confront Thanos in a battle which was ultimately lost.


Marvel Zombies (Earth-2149)

Profile: After the zombies infect Professor Xavier, Iceman takes part in the attempt by many of Earth's heroes to defeat the zombies rampaging across the planet. Although it is not shown, he was probably infected and turned during this battle. As a Zombie, he takes part in the siege of Castle Doomstadt in Latveria.


Millennial Visions: Back to School (Earth-1012)

Profile: In 2028, the Xavier Institute is forced to widen its student body in order to ease overcrowding in schools. Iceman is one of the teachers at the new version of the Institute but he, like the others, finds it much too difficult and escapes teaching in search of some villains to fight.

Profile: With the Mansion gone, the X-Men are forced to hide amongst the rest of humanity and adopt new uniforms to reflect their new situation. Despite all of his achievements, Iceman still feels like a loser. He's tried to live a normal life and found it wanting. Bobby doesn't enjoy the thought of blending in as he fears it might mean he is insignificant. Despite his jokey personality, Bobby has found himself in the role of loner in the team as his temperature prevents others from getting to close to him.

Profile: Iceman is one of those killed by Deadpool who has been hired to kill the X-Men by a man named Shaw.




Mojoverse (Earth-971023)

Profile: Created by Mojo, (Lil) Iceman was one of the X-Babies who fled to Earth-616 to ask the X-Men to protect them from Gog and Magog who planned to kill them. He was not one of the first X-Babies to be created.



Mutant X (Earth-1298)

Mutant X Appearances: Mutant X # 1 - 12, 15 - 17, 19, 21 - 28, 30 - 32, Mutant X 1999, 2001
Profile: A former X-Man and now a member of The Six Bob Drake's powers spun out of control after some interference from Loki. Permanently stuck in his ice form he was unable to touch anyone due to his extremely low body temperature, but still managed to retain his trademark sense of humour. Ice-Man's powers were eventually returned to their normal levels by Hank McCoy.


New Excalibur (Earth-6141)

Shadow-X Appearances: New Excalibur # 1 - 3, 18 - 24
Profile: From a reality where Professor Xavier was possessed by the Shadow King, Iceman is part of Shadow-X, a 'dark' X-Men team who appear in the Earth-616 reality but are quickly defeated by Excalibur. Later, Shadow-X escape and attempt to free their Professor X. Incredibly powerful, this Iceman seems largely silent, only interjecting when he has something important to add. He seems to be hiding a juvenile sense of humour beneath his stoicism. He is killed during a battle with the Shadow Captain Britains.

New Exiles

Profile: Roberta 'Bobby' Drake is a member of Force-X, a team established by Dame Emma Frost of Britain's Department X, and a student at the Frost School for Gifted Youngsters. She is codenamed 'Aurion' and has ice-based powers.



Old Man Logan (Earth-90210)

Profile: A member of the X-Men, Iceman is stabbed through the heart and killed by Wolverine who is under the control of Mysterio and believes that the X-Men are villains who have come to kill the children under Wolverine's protection.



Paradise X: Heralds

Profile: When Bloodstorm and Iron Man are sent to an alternate Earth to warn them of the danger posed by the Celestial growing at the core of the planet, they encounter a vampire society. Iceman appears to still be a mutant in addition to being a vampire.

Profile: With his friends Peter Parker aka Spider-Man and Angelica Jones aka Firestar, Iceman fights The Abomination before resuming an interrupted spelunking/camping trip.

Profile: After running away from home to protect his family from Sentinels, Bobby Drake became the youngest of the founding member of the X-Men. Taking very little seriously he revels in the use of his powers and has proved he can more than handle himself in battle. Bobby has dated both Rogue and Shadowcat and left the mansion, and the X-Men, more than once.

Profile: After becoming famous, Spider-Man sets himself up as a licensing and promotion agent signing the Fantastic Four, the Avengers and the X-Men amongst others. Iceman is a member of the X-Men team signed up with Spider-Man promising to make them heroes in the eyes of the public, thus improving human-mutant relations.



What If: Phoenix Had Not Died? (Earth-81727)

What If: Phoenix Had Not Died? Appearances: What If? (1st Series) # 27
Profile: When Cyclops saves Jean Grey from destruction, the X-Men are defeated by the Shi'ar who destroy the Phoenix. Returned to Earth along with the rest of the team, Iceman visits Angel in the Rocky Mountains. However, their relaxation is cut short by the Sentinels who capture Warren and attack Bobby as he is sending a distress call to his teammates. They are saved by Jean who single handedly dismantles the Sentinels. When the Phoenix takes Jean over completely, Bobby is one of the X-Men destroyed by her.

Profile: Unaware that they are being manipulated for nefarious purposes by the Scarlet Centurian, the Avengers track down and defeat all beings with super-powers and hand them over to the Centurian for 'rehabilitation'. Iceman is amongst the X-Men who are seen falling to the Avengers.



What If: Wolverine Had Killed The Hulk?

Profile: After killing the Hulk, Wolverine has no one to turn to but Magneto who sends him to Westchester to infiltrate the X-Men. During a battle with the Sentinels, Ice-Man, acting as a decoy, saves Wolverine. Thanks to Wolverine's sabotage, Magneto overpowers the X-Men. They manage to break free, with Bobby showing impressive control over his powers.

Profile: Iceman is one of the original members of the X-Men, a team which Henry McCoy leaves in order to pursue a private sector career.




What If: Wonder Man Had Not Died? (Earth-9916)

Profile: Iceman is a member of the X-Men and is involved in the fight against Magneto and his Brotherhood that claims the life of Quicksilver. He later attended the marriage of the Scarlet Witch and Wonder Man.

Profile: Iceman and several other members of the X-Men are captured by Krakoa, the living island. Xavier's new team of X-Men were dispatched on a rescue mission and did manage to free Bobby and the others. However, when they were forced to catapult Krakoa into space, they were unable to escape the island and died as a result.



What If: The X-Men Had Stayed In Asgard? (Earth-904)

Profile: When several members of the X-Men and New Mutants elect to stay in Asgard, the rest are sent home to a slightly different version of their previous lives where the X-Men was a large team made up of X-Men, such as Ice-Man, and those who would have formed X-Factor.



What If: Professor X Of The X-Men Had Become The Juggernaut? (Earth-905)

What If: Professor X of the X-Men had become the Juggernaut? Appearances: What If? (2nd Series) # 13
Profile: In a reality where Charles Xavier is the Juggernaut and the X-Men are referred to as 'fascist storm troopers', Iceman is a member of The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Based in Santo Marco, Magneto organises a mutant attack on the United Nations, but is almost defeated, saved only by the appearance of Juggernaut. Bobby is either severely injured or killed in the battle.


What If: The All-New All-Different X-Men Had Never Existed? (Earth-913)

What If: The All-New All-Different X-Men Had Never Existed? Appearances: What If? (2nd Series) # 23
Profile: The X-Men successfully defeat Krakoa, the living island and thus the second generation of the team is never recruited. As a result, the X-Men are unaware of the Shi'ar, Jean Grey does not become the Phoenix and Beast rejoins the team. Iceman continues to want to party and is left elated when the team deal with the M'kraan Crystal. He is later instrumental in saving Kitty Pryde and is present when the previously unknown Nightcrawler sacrifices himself to save the Universe from the Phoenix entity.

Profile: Working together, The Human Torch and Iceman are both eager to fight crime. However, when they activate their powers, the Torch's flames melt Iceman's ice. The pair slip and fall through a glass roof and are captured by the badguys.

Profile: As a member of Wolverine's X-Vampires, Iceman fights the demons Inferno has unleashed. Just when they think they are winning, more demons appear courtesy of Dormammu. Iceman is one of the first to be killed by this new wave of invaders.

Profile: When Spider-Man drinks a mixture intended to rid him of his powers, he instead develops four extra arms. Being advised to ask Charles Xavier for help, he drops in on the Mansion, only to be attacked by the X-Men, including Iceman.



What If: Cable Had Destroyed The X-Men? (Earth-21993)

What If: Cable Had Destroyed The X-Men? Appearances: What If? (2nd Series) # 46 - 47
Profile: Returning from Shi'ar space, having taken no part in their war, Professor Xavier berates the X-Men for the state he finds them in, much to the disgust of Bobby and the others. Shortly after, the team believes that Cable has murdered Professor X. Although agreeing he must be punished, they are divided by those who would kill him and those who would bring him in alive. Bobby believes Cable should die and later uses ice spikes when fighting Cable and his team. When Magneto attempts to take control of the country, the remaining X-Men are in disarray and Iceman is captured by a Sentinel. After Magneto's defeat, Iceman is made to wear an inhibitor collar and placed in a Mutant Internment Center. He was rescued by Wolverine and went on to be part of the newly revived X-Men.

Profile: When Dormammu attempts to take over the world, the X-Men, including Bobby, are amongst the heroes who attempt to stop him. They succeeded with the help of Viktor von Doom who is injured in the battle.

Profile: Iceman, as part of the X-Men is captured by the Hellfire Club. They are rescued by Alpha Flight after their leader, Wolverine, is forced to kill Jean Grey.

Profile: With Hank leaving the X-Men, Scott and Jean announce their upcoming marriage. Afterwards, Iceman and the remaining members of the team tell the Professor that they too will be leaving.

Profile: With Jean and Warren growing increasingly attracted to each other, Scott withdraws from the others despite Bobby's attempts to include him. When the X-Men destroy Asteroid M, Scott is trapped on a different part of the asteroid to others and Iceman forms an ice tunnel to connect the fragments together in order to rescue him.

Profile: When X-Factor were forced to fight their old teammate Angel, who had become one of Apocalypse's horsemen, Iceman formed an ice copy of himself which was destroyed by Angel. Wanting Angel to believe that he had killed his friend, Apocalypse then killed the real Iceman. Both Cylops and Angel blamed themselves for his death.

Profile: When Charles Xavier dies following the faulure of Apocalypse's technovirus, Apocalypse tells the X-Men that they are now his. Appalled at the death of their mentor, Iceman and the rest of the team refuse to follow Apocalypse. In the ensuing fight, Bobby is killed when Apocalypse takes control of Archangel's wings, forcing him to shoot poisoned shards at Iceman.

Profile: Iceman is one of the many X-Men who oppose Banshee's plan to kill Clarice Ferguson in order to stop time unravelling.

Profile: Age of Apocalypse's Legion travels back in time and kills Erik Lensherr before he becomes Magneto, thus creating a world where the X-Men are celebrities. Bobby is a member of the Hellfire Club International and is dating Emma Frost. When she is killed, he tries to stop her attackers but is himself killed by Pyro.

Profile: Iceman is a member of the X-Men though he seems to take no part in the fight against StormPhoenix.

Profile: Along with the rest of the X-Men, Iceman is horrified when Shard kills Fitzroy. When Shard then tries to alter the timeline to avert Bishop's death, Iceman is among those who try to stop her. He makes wisecracks throughout, but is shocked when Shard kills Magneto. Although injured in the final fight against Shard, Iceman survives to be amongst those who bury Storm.

Profile: While watching over Emma Frost in the Med-Lab, Bobby is somehow knocked unconscious.

Profile: When the X-Men are attacked by The Juggernaut, Iceman is the only one to survive. However, his powers immediately start acting up and he struggles hugely to control them. After the destruction of much of the world by the Sentinels, he takes refuge in a former Sentinel manufacturing plant in the Grand Canyon with some other survivers. When the Juggernaut accidentally stumbles upon them, Iceman tries to keep him out but loses control of his powers.

Profile: Iceman is shocked when he recognises Death as his former teammate, Angel. Creating an ice duplicate of himself, he tricks Angel into thinking that he has killed him, thus leading Angel to rejoin X-Factor. Iceman is later instrumental in the fight against Black Tom Cassidy and the Juggernaut but appears to have been killed when Angel double crosses his friends, killing them along with the Maurauders.

Profile: Having kicked Gambit out of the X-Men, Bobby doesn't see the point of following him to Paris. However, he does end up being part of the team that travels there with the intent of passing final sentence of their former teammate. When everyone votes as to how they should deal with Gambit, Bobby's vote is for exile. When Gambit and Angel engage in a fight to the death, Bobby urges Warren not to kill Gambit when he seems poised to do so and is proud when his friend is merciful.

Profile: When the new team of X-Men arrive on Krakoa, Vulcan finds the old team alive in a temple and manages to free them. However, due to his inexperience he ends up killing them all. He tells the others that they were already dead and helps them catapult Krakoa into space. Distraught, Cylops leaves the X-Men and becomes a sculptor, forever crafting images of his dead friends, Iceman included.

Profile: Trying to become a real hero, Venompool attempts to join both the Fantastic Four and the Avengers. Although he is turned away from both, he refuses to join the Defenders (a team including Iceman) despite their near-desperation to have him. Iceman is assumed to have been killed by Venompool during his massacre of all male superheroes and villains.


X-Men: Fairy Tales

Profile: A dog with control over the cold, Kori is said to have a heart of ice. Distrustful of others, and of humans in particular, he encounters Kori and some of his friends and is eventually won over by them, joining them on their quest, going on to become one of the protectors of the Emperor's kingdom.

Profile: As a member of the X-Men, Iceman was involved in the fight against Bolivar Trask's Sentinels. Although the X-Men appeared to win this would later turn out to be not strictly true.

Profile: Dubbed a sociopath by the courts at a young age, Bobby Drake was sent to the Xavier School for Exceptionally Wayward Youth' where he was expected to be reformed. Professor Xavier, it seemed, had other ideas on how to deal with sociopaths and his students soon formed the infamous criminal gang known as The X Men on whom many of the city's violent crimes were being blamed. The possessor of a hair-trigger temper, Bobby insists that everyone call him Iceman, a name chosen from his weapon of choice - an ice pick. He was killed whilst trying to find out what happened to Jean Grey.

X-Men: Ronin (Earth-2301)

Profile: Drake aka Iceman is in a nightclub with some friends when his mind is taken over by Emma Frost of The Hellfire Club. Whilst under her control, he is dispatched to find Jean Grey but is swiftly defeated by the X-Men. Later, while trying to escape from the mansion, he is killed by Jean as she manifests the Phoenix power.



X-Men: The End (Earth-41001)

Profile: As a member of X.S.E., Bobby remains in his iceform at all times (whether this is by choice or not is unclear) and seems to have huge control over his powers. Based in Washington D.C., Iceman interrogates Sagebut is attacked by a Warskrull posing as Val Cooper. Ironically, he is ultimately saved by Sage who, as they work together over the following days, is surprised to realise that Bobby has hidden depths she had not previously suspected. When the remaining members of the X-Men gather to wage war against the Shi'ar. Iceman joins them. During the ensuing events, he runs into his former girlfriend Polaris who is mortally injured. Bobby stays with her until she passes, comforting her the best he can. Iceman survived the final confrontation with Cassandra Nova and attended the Centennial anniversary of Xavier's birth.
