- Although this is the second to last episode of the series, the sequences shot in Las Vegas were actually the final things to be filmed by the SGA cast and crew.

- Both the filming style and the flashback sequences were modelled on programmes such as CSI which are shot in notably different way to SGA.

- The other poker players are all well-known people from various industries: Todd Brunson and Roy Winston are professional poker players; Joel Goldsmith is a composer whose work includes the various Stargate incarnations; and Charlie Cohen is the MGM senior executive vice president and had previously appeared in the SGA episode 'Duet' (02.02).

- The line about Star Trek: The Experience was actually suggested by Robert Picardo who is most famous for his work on Star Trek: Voyager and actually appeared in Star Trek: The Experience.
- Sheppard's comment about not being a huge science-fiction fan serves as both an in-joke given that SGA is a science-fiction programme, but also echoes a comment Joe Flanigan once made in an interview.

- Detective Sheppard's office features a Johnny Cash poster which is identical to the poster which hangs in 'our' reality's Lt. Col. Sheppard's quarters.
- 'Vegas' is one of only two episodes in which neither Atlantis itself or a Stargate actually appear (the other is 'Harmony' (04.14)).
- The door of the morgue featured the logo for the United Earth Federation as seen in the game Supreme Commander.
- The Air Force personnel at Area 51 are seen wearing the new Air Force uniforms, known as ABUs (Airman Battle Uniform) rather than the BDUs which were standard wear throughout SGA.
